The burger to rule all burgers

We really like making food together.

Lots of food.

Lots of unhealthy, delicious food.

Here's photographic evidence of yesterday's dinner.
We made the burger to rule all burgers, and dang was it good!

Notice we are still in our running clothes... we had to justify this indulgence somehow. :)

Start with some ground beef formed into a patty-bowl

Fill the patty-bowl with lots of cheese

Wrap the cheese-filled patty with plenty of bacon, and toss it on the grill.

Add lettuce, tomato, avocado, and Henry Weinhardt's root beer
(the huge beer steins make it even better :P)

Yum.... :D Definitely the  best burger I've ever had with the perfect amount of bacon, cheese, and burger in every bite.
I think it was well worth the years we're taking off our lives, don't you? ;)

This weekend's adventures

Yesterday Dallin and I did a canyon in the Superstitions with 3 friends of ours. Here's just a few pictures. :)

The first rappel into the cold, cold water below

Brrrrr... chilly water!

Nice moves, babe! ;)

I swan through this. It was cool.

We climbed over lots of rocks.

This was such a pretty place! I wish you could see inside the pools.

I love spending time outside admiring this amazing world that God created for us. I'm sure he wanted us to enjoy it. It is such a beautiful place, isn't it? I hope you take the time to appreciate it whenever you get the chance.

Well, not much else is new around here... just another beautiful Sunday, which is my favorite day of the week! It's so nice to have a day to spend just doing the things I love with the people I love.

Happiness is a choice

Today has been a little bit rocky. It started last night with a painful toothache, and continued today with an equally painful trip to the dentist that left one side of my face numb and achy. Oh, so fun.

I've been moping around the house while Dallin is at work feeling sorry for myself most of the day today. I'd probably still be moping if I didn't have this quote pop into my head that my sister had on the mirror in our room years ago.

"Happiness is a choice that requires effort sometimes."
-Aeschylus

I just love that quote. Aren't those wise words? I believe that happiness is something that you choose to have in your life, even when circumstances make it easy to do otherwise. It just takes a bit of work, which is worth it, right?

And it came to pass that I decided to make today a happy one. Here's how I did it.

Step one: Get off the couch and do something... besides playing angry birds -- that doesn't count. ;) My kitchen was a bit messy, and there were some dishes to be done, so I got to work on that. Funny how much better one feels about oneself when they do something productive. I'm pretty sure that doing some kind of cleaning of organizing is one of the quickest ways to get myself out of a "poor me" funk.

Step two: Turn on some music that I love. Piano music is one of my favorite things in the entire world, and thanks to sites like pandora.com and grooveshark.com I have all I could ever want at my fingertips! Beautiful music in my ears makes everything better.

Speaking of beautiful music, here is a sample from The Piano Guys (a musical group Jon Schmidt is a part of that includes cello... my second favorite instrument) that I love. Enjoy. :)

Step three: Crack open some of the many books on my bookshelf that have been neglected for too long. I used to read all the time... at least 1-2 books a week. That number declined rapidly once I started college, since I had papers to write an textbooks to study and tests to prepare for. There's just something about books that always makes me happy. It's my "thing". Now that I actually have the time to read I need to do it more often!

I need to wrap this up, but before I do I just had to brag about my husband who was willing to help me get comfortable and back to sleep last night when I was in a lot of pain, even though it was 2:00am. He's a keeper. :)

Also, I love this image. Sums up my feelings nicely. :)

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

St. Patrick's Day has never been a very significant holiday for me. Usually, the extent of my celebrations is wearing something green so I don't get pinched by certain members of my family that find this tradition most amusing. ;) Although in my humble opinion, I think being a redhead it reason enough to get away with not wearing green, right? Right!

However, this year was different. The stars lined up just right so Dallin, his cousin Ryan, and I could go do Blarney and Leprechaun canyons in Southern Utah on St. Patty's day! Definitely the most epic St. Patrick's day I've ever had... by far.

And we even wore matching shirts. We're that cool... or weird. ;)
Here's a bunch of pictures from the day.

Hello, hello!

I figured we wouldn't REALLY be newlyweds unless we had a blog, so I figured that I better get one started so I could post lots of sappy pictures of us making out to make the rest of the world jealous.

Just kidding! That's definitely not why I'm making this... haha. And the chances of there ever being a picture of us kissing on this blog is pretty slim... just saying! No one wants to see that, right? ;)

So anyways, let's get down to the nitty gritty. (If you didn't get that quote, click here and then go watch  Nacho Libre so we can still be friends :P) We're Dallin and Mikaela, and we got married February 10, 2012 in the Mesa, Arizona Temple. We're members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, also known as the Mormon church. Dallin is a drug dealer (also known as a pharmacist... calm down) and I am studying to be an elementary and special education teacher. We like making/eating delicious food, canyoneering (which is necessary after said delicious food), making weird videos, watching Psych, being members of the "master race" (Redheads rule!), and just enjoying married life in general. And married life is pretty dang good, if you ask me! :)

Oh, I love him.

No guarantees on how often this blog gets updated... but I'll do my best to post AT LEAST one thing after this. ;)
